Old Town Coffee and Toast cafe, Soup Spoon & Ikea

I fell in love with Old Town the last time I went to Genting. Ah dear was sooooo hungry the moment we touched down, and so he bought quite a lot of Old Town toast. My god, I remembered it was an agonizing long wait for the toast! But hey, it was really nice! =D And then when we reached Genting, we bought more again! Me like me like! Hehs.

(Under poor lighting, iPhone sure takes lousy picture! That's the problem when I don't bring my camera out everyday. Haha!)

Old Town started off from Malaysia, but now, you can find their instant coffee everywhere! But hmm, I'm not a great fan of coffee. I don't like the smell of it. BUT! I thought the white coffee was NICE! Haha. And, it was a great companion in the cold cold Genting. Haha.

So, I got really happy when I saw it in Singapore! Haha. I went to get some toasts to calm my growling stomach since I was at NTU the other day. =D Oh, that made me really happy even though I'm supposed to be on a strict diet. Hahaha!

In case you are looking for the branch in JP, here's the address. It's neatly tucked away on the top front, near the NTUC xtra. Hehs.

Well, as I was saying, I was on a strict diet. So, I only ordered one toast (it was a taboo too cos that's not liquid diet at all!) and no white coffee (I cannot take caffeine products). I was happy enough!

Seriously, I had long forgotten the taste of the toast. The last time I tasted it seems so long ago. Haha. So, I only remembered it as very nice. But, I expected the taste of a normal toast. Oh, but the moment I bite in, I have to go 'Ohhhhhhh....'. (If you know me well enough, ya, I gave that lighted up face that I always give when I eat something nice. Hahaha!) Ya, alone, in the middle of JP2. Lol!

I'm seriously craving for moreeeeeee.

==========================================================================

I love going to Ikea. Not because of furniture, not because of meatballs and chicken wings, but because of THIS! My favourite hot dog bun! Haha. Actually, I think it's not too difficult to find hotdog buns like this around. But, since we are near Ikea, I have an excuse to eat a hotdog bun that can make me smile non-stop. =D So, why not? Hehs.

I love steam bread! Because they are always so soft and yummy!

==========================================================================

Went to soup spoon on Friday after Ikea since there's buses to Vivo. BOO! That's not exactly what I would love to eat when I'm at Vivo city! Haha. But well, considering that I should attempt to eat as much healthy food that's smoothing to my stomach, OK FINE!

But erm, no, I wun want to go back there for dinner anytime in future. Seriously, I felt really miserable through the entire dinner. You should ask Ah dear for my gloomy face la. Haha.

The main reason why I felt miserable was seriously not because the soup is not nice. But mainly because I need more texture other than plain soup for a meal. If it's the starters, I would not mind that much. Oh, blame it on my stomach. Haha!

That's ah dear's clam chowder. Quite nice! Haha. At least there are ingredients to chew chew chew. Hehs.

My pumpkin soup (because ah dear say I cannot eat tomato. BOO!). Grrrr... I want MEAT! Or at least vegetables! Haha. It was a little sweet. Hehs. First few mouths were really good. I got so sick and tired of the taste after some time. I didn't finish the whole bowl. Haha.

Please do not ask me there to drink soup for dinner again!

Realized something? My main reviews are on bread bread and more bread! Lol! This explains how much I love eating bread. Hehs.

Sembawang Bai Mi Fen

I've passed this place like so many times but I never went in. Because it's either I have other agenda or because I just feel like eating something else suddenly. But yesterday, we finally went to Sembawang just for Bai Mi Fen after hearing the reviews about it. Plus, it went onto the newspaper the other day too! And oh, not to mention, there's a direct shuttle service from Ah dear's house, so, why not? Hehs.

This place is situated opposite the Sembawang Shopping center. To get there, you can catch the shuttle service from Yishun/Sembawang MRT station. Or take buses like 858, 856, etc. LOL! (What a great guide huh?) Just look across the street, you should be able to catch their signboard!

Oh, look at the crowd!

They came up with a system. And that is to go to the back to order and get a queue number. Hmmm, we realized ar. It's not first come first serve basis. It's first order first serve basis! So we got ourselves a queue number and just stand around waiting to be seated. That's why we call popularity huh.

The auntie in red is the staff. Hehs. Remember to walk to the back! Because some people actually stood near the front, which is around their signboard to wait for an empty table! No, it doesn't work this way! =D

And finally, we were seated. Hehs. Food arrival takes really really long, considering that we had ordered and waited for quite some time before being seated. Oh wells, you just have to wait for good food, I guess.

And tadang, the time when our utensils and chili were placed on our table, I got happy. Haha. Oh, the chili smells really nice! But when I tasted it, oh, it's spicy man! Hahaha. (Did you notice a smiley face?)

After some time, our first dish appeared. Oh, we did not order this actually. We only ordered the famous bai mi fen and the salt and pepper prawns because I thought I should still control a little on my diet. Hehs. They had a mixed up with the orders. But, oh wells, we have to eat this fried squid. BUT OH MY GOD! It was the nicest fried squid I had ever had!! It was not too dry like most of the fried stuffs. And, the squid itself was really fresh and soft. LIKE LIKE LIKE! Lucky for the mixed up! Hehs. Oh, This whole plate cost $8.

And then, after quite some time, our prawns finally came. It tasted great! But, I seriously don't like to peel prawn shells in public sia.. Hehs. And, I think, after un-shelling the prawn, the nice taste of the dish is gone. Just like how cereal prawn operates. Lol. Not too bad. I think this was $12. Haha.

And finally, the baby of the restaurant! Bai Mi Fen (白米粉 or white bee hoon)! Hehs. Wooooo. The texture of the bee hoon was a texture that I had never tasted before sia. Hmm. It's soft and easy to eat. More lime and gravy will be even better. I thought it tasted a little like sa cum mai though. You have to try it to understand the taste itself. Haha! I see that almost every (or all the) tables ordered it! And they finished till the last strand sia.. Haha. But we did not because the portion was too big to be managed by the both of us!

That was a great dinner! Haha. Because I had no major uncomfort after the meal. Woohoo! But at least I took a little caution and stop eating when I start feeling full. Hehs. Wooohooo! I'm so going to bring my parents there one day. (I've actually done it, but I've always end our dinner somewhere else instead. Muahahahaha! Next time! I promise! Hehs)

The biggest dream of my life!

The biggest dream of my life is to go to ALL the disneyland in the world! Hong Kong, Japan, Paris, Anaheim. And I think there'll be a new addition, Shanghai (Oh, can you imagine Mickey Mouse talking to you in Chinese? Hmmmmm.).

Please don't belittle my dream just because it looks insignificant next to yours or because you had luckily traveled to all of them already.

Okay, I really know that NTU is the YOG village now

Seriously, I knew that NTU is going to be the YOG village since donkey years ago (okay, I'm exaggerating, but you get my point). Then, I thought we will just provide the living quarters for the athletes. So, I'm not expecting what I saw in NTU now!

What already got me so ???? was the fences around the entire campus when I went back for the convocation on Monday. Oh, like seriously, WHY is it so FENCED? Hmm. To prevent people from disturbing the athletes? Or to prevent the athletes from disturbing the others? Hahaha! Can someone tell me why??

But hey, the changes to the campus did not STOP here!

I was going 'wah, waH wAH, WAH!' when I alighted at the Canteen A stop this morning. Haha. (Oh, FYI, I didn't take a bus to school on Monday, so I noticed it only now. Haha)

First, it's the covered walkway. Oh. WHY? I thought the barbed wires outside was crazy enough. But seriously, security needs to be so tight? I feel so enclosed when I walk up the stairs this morning! (iPhone doesn't really take great photos under minimum light. Please pardon it!)

But as I reach the overhead bridge, I was so amazed! Because, I love the purple! Hooray! That's really nice!! I felt like I was in some carnival! Hehs.

And then, as I walk further up, my eyes popped out! Erm, NTU is not really a school now right?

I wonder how does all the staffs enter the campus during the YOG period. Hmmmm.......

And then ar, I also realized that they did some renovations around the school. Thank you NTU for doing it after my graduation and not when I was a freshman. The directions around the school are so CLEAR now! My god. Haha!

Oh, I also see that the doors of the toilets are changed too!

I finally understand why the news said that NTU is really for the YOG. Haha.

Please don't laugh at me if you are always spotting me with food in my mouth

Ok, that was a long title.

But, let me repeat it again. Please don't laugh at me if you are always spotting me with food in my mouth. Hahahahaha! And stop asking me me 'why are you eating again?!'

*Things always happen with a reason, RIGHT?!!* I'm sure you know I will not eat every 2 hours if I can help it! Hahahahaha! STOP CALLING ME A GLUTTON! (Although I'm 72.7% positive that I've been possessed by Glutton Kelly No. 4. Hehs.)

=D

Convocation 2010

Guess what? It's finally our turn to say 'WE'VE GRADUATED! OH YEA!' Haha. After 4 looooong years in SBS, that was finally the day! =)

Right before the ceremony starts, the dolling up took place at home! Haha. Erm, I seriously got a shock when Lotus came into my room in her bridal dress. Well, she claimed that she's going to marry my dear. WHAT????!! He's mine ok? Haha. But urm, she was too shy to call him darling though. LOL!

Gave her a little makeup and she was happy as a lark. LOL! Super princess sia!

The first thing that I felt when I reached SBS was. WHERE'S EVERYONE?! Lol. And, HOW TO WEAR MY ROBE?! Hehs. Luckily Jon came to my rescue. And helped me with everything, including my first photo of the day, in the robe. Hehs.

Not only 4 years, I've waited so damn long to receive this!!! =) Trembling with excitement when I receive this from Alex Law. =D

Look at my seat number! My god. Haha. Soooooo long lo. Haha.

And hahaha, I entrusted the camera to mummy. Oh, guess what? This was the best photo she took. Can you spot me? Hehs. Muahahahahaha! But I guess she was trembling with excitement too! Hehs. She looked so happy and proud! =D

I promised ah dear that I would not scan the photo with Alex Law into my computer because he bought the set that has the digital copy of the photo. Lol. I'll get it into my computer when I get it! Which is, urm, in a week? LOL! I just knew it when I see the photographer taking the photo below the stage. I knew they'll sell the photo! Hahahaha. Maciam like tourist attraction like that!

And after the ceremony is what we have been waiting for! PHOTO TAKING! Just go my FB for most of the photos ba. Hehs. I only uploaded my favorite photos. Photos with my FAMILY! =)

Hehs. I would like to thank everyone for making my uni life the way it was!

Special mentions!

Baoshan was the first new friend I met in school! Oh, I wun forget the kuku incident! =) And then in came DXY, elaine and suet hoay. Haha. Thank you for all the company, especially during our lab sessions! And definitely Huiling! Haha. Oh, those were the days when we'll do almost everything in school together. But wells, I've accepted that everyone moves on (why do I feel that someone is cursing me at the same time I'm typing this? I don't really care actually. LOL!)

The evil Max! Although we all know you sucked, you have been a great and entertaining friend at the same time. I think my life would have been really boring if not for you. Hahaha! You have been an important friend in the last 2 years of my uni life!!!!! =D Teaching me stuffs, telling me things and loads loads stuffs.

And my FYP mates. Yes we have disagreements at times, but oh my god, the FYP days were the best part of the uni life. Hehs. And now that we are going to face each other for the next few years *groans* you guys know I love you so! Hehs.

And dear Huda, haha, you are the best! Haha. =) Even though you often gang up with Max to laugh at me or laugh at me for being so bimbo and dumb. But, I know you love me so. Hehs. =D Thank you for tolerating my bimboness and giving your patience in explaining everything to me! Hehs.

And structural bio classmates. It was my favourite class in my entire 4 years in school. And it was the course that made me chose the route that I've chosen. And you people just made it even better. Haha. I remember going to NIE after class, trying to order the lor mee which is always sold out. Hehs. And always helping each other with all the impossible assignments. Ahh. Those were the days....... I swear this was the only class that I had no skipped any single lesson!!!!

Oh, there's many many others who made me Uni life better than it would have been!

And, how can I not thank my family? For giving me some support when I needed it?

And the most most important person. My DEARDEAR! He saw me through all thick and thin. My happy moments, my stressful moments, my upset moments. Almost everything. No words can describe EVERYTHING that he have done for me. So, thank you thank you thank you! I love you dear! =D

Finally, congratulations everyone! We've graduated!

Getting ready for the Convocation.

Haha. Today is considered a pretty big day in my life long calender. Well, at least it's a day that we've been looking forward to, since 4 years ago, in 2006. SO, I have to make sure that nothing too wrong goes on today. Haha.

1. Invitation cards, checked.

2. Extra battery checked. Oh, we cannot go without extra batteries right? Luckily I realized all my batteries are actually almost FLAT! Hohohohoho. Thank god I checked. =D

3. To look prettier than usual, make up. I hope I'm not going to make a mess out of myself, AGAIN. LOL!

4. What if someone gets lost? Or needs to call me? Haha. Or *touchwood* camera flat. iPhone to the rescue. Haha. I had fully charged it le! Lol!

5. All my medications in my bag! Oh, if you got headache gastric sore throat, come and look for me ba. Lol! I have them all in my bag. Lol! But urm, not going to share my Mebetin and Omeprazole though. Hehs.

6. In case of pain, my antacids to the rescue. Oh, it din really help the last 2 rounds, but still, it's better to bring it along anyway. And, haha, look at my cutie zip lock bag. Don't be too jealous of me ok? Haha!

7. Digestive biscuits in case of hunger. Look for me if you have sudden hunger pangs? Haha.

9. Small little tiny amount of liquid food each meal (aka breakfast) to ensure that my gastric wun flare up in a full blown version. Result: Walk up the stage/around the school with a cringing look and like an old ah ma. Hehs. Thank god it's just a little bit of gastric and heartburn and bloat this morning. But damn, I'm hungry again.

10. Extra porridge. Haha. Mama scare I get hungry in school and I dun have anything to eat. Hmm. I feel like a patient. Lol.

11. Last but not least, a lot of water. Not just to quench the thirst, but also to ensure that I have ample amount of water to dilute the acid when need. Oh, we just have to be careful, don't we?

And now, keep my mind occupied so I will not think about my gastric. Lol. It's time for rock and roll! Ok, maybe some food first. Hahahaha!
