How do you actually define family? Is it by blood ties or is it by the feeling and the bond you have with another individual? For me, I would think that blood ties lays the foundation of a family. But, anything can change that. As I grow up, blood ties become less and less significant. It's the love, communications and bonding that define whether you are part of my family.
I used to value everyone that had some blood relationship with me somehow. They are part of my family. So, no matter what they did, what I did, what happened, they are part of my family. But recently, as things started happening and as I started seeing different things, I know, things are not that simple anymore.
To me, a family should be able to go through thick and thin together. We can share all the happiness and all the woes together. We can tell each other things and then share inside jokes. There is nothing called betrayal and there is nothing called leaving you in the lurch for myself. There should at least be smiling faces and not a sour black face all the time. We should be able to talk with each other like we have known each other forever because we should have known each other forever. We should be happy when we see each other because we enjoy each other's company in a way or another.
I still believe that such families do exist because they do.
